Working breakfast: Introduction in PE industry

On the 4th of April, Serbian Private Equity Association (SPEA) held a morning seminar in the offices of the Serbian Managers Association (SAM). The agenda of the seminar was to introduce Serbian business people with the workings of the Private Equity Industry. With this issue in mind, dipl.ecc Milena Gajovic Shrestha, a member of the Executive board of SPEA, prepared a lecture and a short presentation on how Private Equity funds function.

During the presentation, members of SPEA, as well as new members that are interested in investing or collaborating with Private Equity Funds in Serbia, were informed about the important aspects of the Private Equity industry as well as what are the benefits of using Private Equity funding for companies. Milena also explained what companies should expect by collaborating with Private equity funds and the link between investors which invest into Private equity funds, and the users of funds, as a long-term partnership, and the various risk trade offs that are involved.

Summary of the seminar was that the main issue for Private equity funds in Serbia is poor development of the economy and poor knowledge about alternative sources of finance. Although SPEA’s aim, in the following years, is to inform the general public and business people in Serbia about the benefits of private equity funds, as a reliable and secure source of finance.
