The Serbian Private Equity Association hosted its first event of the year yesterday at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce. The topic of Reps & Warranty insurance is a new one for this market but according to Peter Warburton from VISTA INSURANCE BROKERS LIMITED and Seamus Conlon of MAI-CEE brokers in Budapest, this is a growing insurance product globally and it is simply a question of time before it arrives in Serbia. The Reps & Warranty insurance is seen regularly in M&A transactions particularly when PE investors are involved. It can be a useful tool in difficult negotiations over price and risk which might allow transactions to go ahead although the parties do not agree on certain warranties.
