The 8th Annual Southeast Private Equity and M&A forum was held in Belgrade, Serbia at the hotel Metropol Palace. As in previous years, this year’s 2015 edition was very successful and received positive feedback from all delegates. EEL Events can proudly announced the number of attendees was the highest ever in recent years with almost 140 participants registered for the conference represented from across Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Germany, France and the Balkans countries).
The event was supported by sponsors TLA, EY, EOS, Dentons, Karanovic/Nikolic and Eurofast.
As one of main partners, SPEA (Serbian Private Equity Association) organized a VIP Breakfast before registration to the forum. As a special guest of the VIP Breakfast guests were privileged to include a keynote presentation from Mr Andrej Babache from Mid Europa Partners as well as a welcome note of president of SPEA, Mr. David Schoch who welcomed large funds such as Mid Europa and KKR to the market.
The forum included several panel discussions looking into important sectors for investments such as telecommunications, healthcare and energy. Panellists included Dentons, Karanovic/Nikolic, EY, EBRD, Mid Europa Partners, Enterprise Investors, Raiffeisen Centrobank, Hypo-Alpe Adria, Blue Sea Capital etc . This made for some very interactive discussions engaging our audience. An important debate was also conducted about ” PE in SEE: What lies ahead?” with valuable insights delivered by Urs Indermuhle as a moderator (EY Serbia), Gavin Ryan (Banca Transilvania), Bill Fawkner-Corbett (CEE Equity Partners) and Rastko Petakovic (Karanovic/Nikolic).
Patricia Gannon, SPEA Founder and member of Executive Board in SPEA, recalled how the market looked 5 years ago when the association was formed to raise awareness of this investment model. With many opportunities saturated in Central Europe many funds now look south for high growth investments opportunities and SPEA provides them with first – hand experience of the market.
“The 8th SEE PE and M&A forum was a perfect opportunity to hear about the latest news in PE in the region. The panels were vivid and energetic, and the list of experts impressive. This annual forum represents a great opportunity for all of us to discuss the market and broaden our awareness of PE activity in Serbia and SEE”, said Urs Indermuhle, Partner at EY’s Transaction Advisory Services and Board Member of SPEA.
